The Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) began automating their forms for self-represented litigants in the summer of 2021. They started using CALI's A2J Author to automate small claims, probate, and orders of protection. In under 2 years, they've grown their form library to 12 A2J Guided Interviews that have helped over 1,000 people in just the first quarter of 2023. In this session, hear how they're tackling the access to justice crisis from within the court system, using readily available, open source technology from CALI to bridge the gap between those with lawyers and those without. They'll also talk about an exciting partnership they formed last fall with the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law that will harness the power of tech savvy law students to automate even more forms for self-represented litigants.
